Privacy Policy

Zuur ("we," "us," or "our") is a real-time pickleball court community app. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share information about you when you use the Zuur mobile application ("App").

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide

• Account data: email address and password when you create an account.
• Profile data: display name and profile photo (optional).
• User-generated content: messages, posts, and reactions you create within the App.

Information we collect automatically

• Location data: precise GPS location, collected in the background when you grant "Always Allow" permission. We use this to detect when you arrive at or leave a pickleball court (geofence events) and to show your avatar on the court map to other users. Location is not stored beyond what is needed to maintain your active session.
• Device identifiers: push notification token to deliver in-app notifications.
• Usage data: which screens you visit, features you use, and error logs, to improve the App.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To provide core App features: court presence detection, live court map, and community messaging.
• To send push notifications about messages and court activity (you can opt out in Settings).
• To detect and address fraud, abuse, or violations of our Terms of Use.
• To improve and debug the App.

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only in these circumstances:

• Other users: your display name, profile photo, and court presence (when you are actively at a court) are visible to other Zuur users.
• Service providers: Supabase (database and authentication), Apple (push notifications), and Google (maps). Each operates under their own privacy policy.
• Legal requirements: if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users.

4. Background Location

The App requests "Always Allow" location permission so it can detect when you enter or leave a court's geofence even when the App is in the background. This is the core presence feature of Zuur. You can revoke this permission at any time in your iOS Settings; doing so will disable presence features.

5. Data Retention

• Account data is retained until you delete your account.
• Messages and content you post remain visible until deleted by you or removed by an admin for policy violations.
• Presence events (geofence enter/exit) are kept for up to 30 days for analytics, then deleted.

6. Your Rights

• Access & correction: you can update your profile information in the App at any time.
• Deletion: you can delete your account from Settings → Danger Zone → Delete Account. This permanently removes your account and associated data.
• Opt out of notifications: go to Settings → Notifications to manage push notification preferences.

7. Children's Privacy

The App is rated 12+ and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the App or by email. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance.
